Michu scores the first goal of the 2012/13 Premier League season

Swansea midfielder Michu scored the opening
goal of this season's Barclays Premier League on
his debut as the Swans took a 1-0 half-time lead
over QPR at Loftus Road.
The Spaniard saw his shot creep past goalkeeper
Robert Green after the ball popped up off Wayne
Routledge when he was tackled deep in QPR
territory in the eighth minute.
Green could have done better as the ball bounced
in front of him but the England international was
unable to control it as Swansea claimed the early
advantage.
Damian Duff opened Fulham's account at Craven
Cottage after the home side dominated the early
exchanges to lead 2-0 against Norwich at the
break.
The Republic of Ireland international latched on
to the end of John Arne Riise's diagonal long ball
from the left wing to fire home in the 25th minute
after Norwich's Andrew Surman saw his early
chance tipped round the post.
Mladen Petric headed the home side's second
with five minutes remaining in the first half.
Stoke took a 1-0 lead over Premier League new
boys Reading at the Madejski Stadium after a
goalkeeping error by Adam Federici.
Michael Kightly fired Tony Pulis' side into the
lead from close range with the ball slipping
through Federici's fingertips.
At the Hawthorns, new West Brom boss Steve
Clarke engineered a score against the club he left
last season as the Baggies led Liverpool 1-0 after
the first period.
Zoltan Gera drilled a shot past Pepe Reina just
before the break after Reds striker Luis Suarez
missed two great chances to give Liverpool the
lead.
West Brom goalkeeper Ben Foster denied Suarez
with a fantastic save before the Uruguay
international headed over an open goal.
Kevin Nolan gave West Ham a 1-0 lead at half-
time over Aston Villa at Upton Park.
Nolan scored from close range in the 40th
minute from Ricardo Vaz Te's assist to edge the
Premier League new boys ahead
Arsenal dominated Sunderland at the Emirates
but were unable to find the breakthrough in the
first period despite strong work by Vassiriki
Diaby and new signing Lukas Podolski as they
were held at 0-0.
