Champions League football could tempt Bale to the Bundesliga

Gareth Bale has emerged as Pep
Guardiola's No. 1 target when he
joins Bayern Munich in the
summer, with the Sun reporting
Tottenham will be tempted into the
sale of their star by a £30 million
offer. It is reported Guardiola has
long been an admirer of Bale and
has been scouting the Welshman
for some time. Although Spurs
insist the winger is not for sale,
Bayern will join Real Madrid in
bidding for Bale and he may seek
a move if the Londoners fail to
qualify for next season's
Champions League.
Edinson Cavani could become the
highest-earner in English football
next season if Manchester City can
agree terms with Napoli for the
forward's signature. The Daily Mail
reports that City are prepared to
offer Cavani £13.3 million-per-
year to move to England and the
deal may be too good to refuse for
the Serie A side. City's attempts to
secure the Uruguayan have been
halted by his hefty release clause,
but key negotiators at the Etihad
are hopeful of getting that
significantly reduced. Cavani's
salary would trump that of both
Carlos Tevez and Wayne Rooney.
£256,000 a week. Not bad, eh?
But City won't have it all their own
way as they chase down Cavani,
with the Mirror reporting French
side Monaco are hopeful of making
a play for the 26-year-old. The
Ligue 2 leaders have the funds at
the ready after being taken over by
Russian billionaire Dmitry
Rybolevlev and will give City,
Bayern Munich and Real Madrid
fierce competition.
